The SOBS of Brunswick County, NC, dance on the 2nd Friday of the month at the Oak Island VFW Post #10226, 50th Street near Oak Island Drive, and on the 4th Friday of the month at the Oak Island Moose Lodge #2059 Family Center, 4239 Long Beach Road. A Shag step or Line dance lesson is usually taught at 6 PM before the dance begins. Dances begin at 6:30 PM.
The Society of Brunswick Shaggers (SOBS) has a membership of about 200. Our dancers come out early to dance! You will meet dancers from different home states & towns, but they are all there for one reason, to enjoy the Carolina shag!
The SOBS will greet you with open arms (that just doesn’t sound right, does it?). But, our name has got to give you a clue that we have a sense of humor!
